Sometimes life can make us feel stuck, unsure, down, scared, stressed, and emotionally drained. With all of life's transitions, ups and downs, adjustments, and surprises, it's no wonder that sometimes we all need a boost. Hope for a better tomorrow can be the first step in making change towards a brighter future. Being vulnerable to take that first step can be a difficult one, however one that can bring transformation, clarity, understanding, and validation that can keep us moving forward.

Life is too short to be or feel held back by the challenges that we face. I believe it is important to feel free to navigate these challenges in a way that allows you to feel your best self, staying true to your values, beliefs, and systems that are important to you. My aim is to help you find meaning, purpose, change, and or clarity over these challenges.

In my 10 years as a practicing clinician, I have worked in a variety of therapeutic settings such as community mental health agencies, college/university, and hospital. I have had the pleasure of working with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Some of my areas of practice are working with those with life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity distress, grief, behavioral issues, relationship challenges, chronic pain, and sleep issues.

I am collaborative in my therapeutic approach and use evidence-based treatments to assist you in the therapy process. I work from a variety of frameworks that best fit your needs. If you feel you are ready to take the first step, I’d be happy to meet with you to start the therapeutic process. I’m currently accepting self-pay clients in my practice and offer evening hours for individuals.

DR. BRIAN ZUZELO, PSYD

Psychologist

Psychotherapy can be an important step in making changes and adjusting to transitions in life. My practice focuses on helping adults adjust to challenging life transitions - whether they are planned or unexpected changes, professional or personal. My goal is to help people address a range of life’s challenges that can contribute to anxiety and depression including work related stress, changes in career, life changes due to medical illness, adjustment to retirement, and bereavement.

Since 2008, I have worked in hospital and home-based settings providing psychotherapy, assessment, and consultation services for older adults. These experiences have informed my understanding of the mental health needs of older adults and the complex challenges associated with the aging process. I provide psychotherapy for older adults facing challenges with their memory or are newly diagnosed with dementia. I also provide clinical consultation for family members with loved one diagnosed with dementia and psychotherapy for caregivers that are experiencing compassion fatigue.

As a health care provider, myself, I also understand the unique challenges and stress for those who work in high stress and complex health care organizations such as hospitals, clinics, or home-based settings. I provide psychotherapy services for health care professionals coping with work related stress and compassion fatigue.

My style is collaborative - I view myself as a partner with my clients with the shared goal of developing coping strategies that are effective and sustainable. My approach to psychotherapy is an integrative one, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Psychodynamic, and existential therapies.
